Rockhampton's Rodeo

The city of Rockhampton is located on the central Queensland coast and is the commercial center for the surrounding mining, tourism and agricultural industries. It has its own domestic airport with regular flights from southern and northern destinations and is the main arrival and departure point for the region known as the Discovery Coast. The Bruce Highway from Brisbane to Cairns passes right through Rockhampton so all passing trains and coaches as well as self drive tourists stop here. The city has fantastic shopping facilities and it is a great place to visit or to live.

The Capricorn Coast is 30 kilometers away and right on the coast and this is Rockhampton’s holiday and leisure region. From Emu Park in the South to Byfield National Park in the north, this stretch of coast provides a multitude of beaches, islands and resorts that cater for the golfing enthusiast, the island tourist and the fishing fanatic View of Rockhampton's bridge alike. There are major resort golf courses at the Zilzie resort, Emu Park and at the Rydges Capricorn resort at Yeppoon.

Just offshore lie the Keppel Islands and these attract droves of tourists. Great Keppel Island is in the process of a total refurbishment with everything being replaced. These islands are spectacular continental islands with beautiful beaches and excellent diving and fishing. They can be accessed by ferry from Rosslyn Bay boat harbour just to the south of Yeppoon.

If you are looking for a new destination to visit or to live then call into Rockhampton and have a good look around.
