Rockhampton is both popular as a corporate and a holiday destination and there is lots of accommodation to choose from. The city is located about three hours drive south from Mackay and about three hours drive north from Bundaberg which makes it an ideal stopover for company representatives and holiday makers working their way along the coast. A large motel industry has grown up along the sides of the Bruce Highway as it winds its way through the city. These motels provide the bulk of Rockhamptons accommodation and offer a range of standards. The older ones are now mostly rated at two to three star with the newer ones being the most sought after.
The Capricorn Coast region that lies on the seward side of Rockhampton and about thirty minutes drive from the city caters for most of the tourist influx. This area has the advantage of seaside locations and provides an array of both motel and apartment style accommodation. There are also some excelent resorts such as the Rydges capricorn Golf resort located just noth of Yeppoon. The capricorn Coast is also the place to catch connections to the Keppel Islands that lie just offshore.
Rockhampton attracts many visitors and its location, well away from other cities, means you should book your Rockhampton accommodation as early as you can.
